5 Heels You Can’t Not Own

5 Heels You Can’t Not Own

Let’s face it: most of our lives would be ever so boring without shoes. When we went online to shop – what would we drool over? Keeping mind the mantra that ‘Shoe Love Is True Love’ I decided to make a list of a few types of shoes that every girl has to have in her wardrobe. Read on and shop on:

The go to

No girl’s wardrobe is complete without the basic black peep toes. If you own a pair already, you know well that these are your best friends. On days when you can’t think of what to wear, these are your go-to. You Can always add an edge of glam to your look with basic pumps by adding up bright lips, statement jewellery and the right handbag.

The neutral lover

We go through phases from time to time where we OD (read: overdose!) our wardrobe with that one colour. Some of us on the hand (yes, myself included!) believe that smart shopping means always having neutrals to fall back on. These are those pieces that you know you can wear to subtle out any over the top look, or for when you’re confused about being over or under dressed. Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 7.53.24 pm

The out and out girlie one

She loves pink, and isn’t afraid to admit it. Some of us never really grew up from bring 12 years old – but stay in touch with your inner child, always, they said. And so I am! Pink can be worn so effortlessly as one of those touches of femininity that you can never go wrong with. Pair it with the right fragrance and you’re good to go.Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 7.52.19 pm

Experimental with the safe zone touch

Of course we all like to try different things out, and so, I picked out and added a pair of lovely, coloured wedges for you on this list. Never be afraid of adding a dash of colour to your look. Plus, wedges are always a great way to add height without having to bear the pain of the heels!Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 7.54.36 pm

Edgy, glamorous and rearing to go

If you’re feeling particularly bold and edgy, opt for a pair of ankle length boots. The pair I’ve picked out is tan, suede and well studded. It makes a statement and a sexy one, dare I say! Opt for thick eyes, bold lips and chunky jewellery if this one’s your kind of look.Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 7.56.54 pm

5 Times Birthday Girl Kalki Nailed The Red Carpet

There’s nothing quite like a Bollywood diva who knows her money’s worth and manages to blend into every movie role and outfit with so much grace. Kalki Koechlin is one of the few we have in the industry, and today is the gorgeous girl’s birthday! An ode to her beautiful look, fabulous ability to pull off a movie on her sheer talent and the amazing effortlessness way in which she manages to find time for social causes, we decided to put together our top five Kalki looks from the red carpets of 2014. So much effortless grace is exuberated by Kalki through this lace and thread embroidered Gaurav Gupta number. The ombre does wonders for the birthday girl’s skin tone and personally, this look makes it to the top of my list!

Black is one of neutral colours we all fall back on ever so often; but to make such a standard, classic colour look your own is no easy feat. This Sabya gold and black number is one of my favourites and I think it’s amazing that Miss K can carry off her Indian looks so easily as well.

Since we’re talking about versatility, we can’t leave behind this Serena meets Blaire look, with the right accessories, of course. Kalki pulls off this girl-next-door pastel number in the coolest, most chic, easy looking feel! What I love the most about this look is the add on of solid pantone on her heels and the hat, too, of course.

You can’t go wrong with a Thampi number – that’s been established already. I particularly like how the diva has opted for a clean makeup look and a simple hair do, letting the outfit do all the talking.

Now here’s a look that’s a total stunner. The ‘suit’ is usually he most androgynous look to pull off, but with this pastel wash outfit, Miss K manages to werq it with her own style. Looking feminine, stylish and making a statement – who wouldn’t love this look?!

You Can’t Bring In 2015 Without These Bottoms

You Can’t Bring In 2015 Without These Bottoms

2014 has been a phenomenal year, but 2015 is going to be even better – and you can’t possibly bring in without having the basic bottoms, can you?!

In today’s styling guide, I’m going to tell you about the easy-peasy four pairs of bottoms you have to have before 2015 begins – you’ll be thanking me by the end of the blog post!

Before I begin on the categories, here are a couple of basic tips to keep in mind while buying yourself a pair of bottoms:

– the fit: not too tight, not too loose. You wan’t your legs to look fuller, but not like your fabric is about to explode

– the crotch: this one can be tricky from time to time. While you’re crotch is bound to have some creases on it when you sit, you need to make sure it doesn’t poke out, making it look awkward, and needless to say, highly unfashionable

– fabric: always make sure you buy yourself the best quality of fabrics within the budget – you don’t want to have to throw away your clothes after just wearing it once!

Cute girl, next door:

You can pick between going teenage with the graphic print or slightly more high school with the stripes, either way you’re going to need a pair of shorts this year to keep your legs looking sexy. Being in India, where to wear your shorts and where not to is something you need to constantly make a mental note of; but being a shorts lover myself, I believe that if you can balance out the look, it’s all good

Bright and shiny

Your solid, dark tops need something slightly less from the same palette to even the look out and go easy on the eyes. Keep a few pastel, bright coloured bottoms, always, so you can make your look pleasantly flexible from time to time.

The crop top trend isn’t dying out for a while, so make the most of it while you can. Team up your fitted crops, T-shirts and shirts with the loose, baggy fitted boyfriend jeans, and you’ll know that the look is an ‘A’ hardcore look. Add some sparkle to it with your lips for the feminine touch – and there’s no look that’s ever complete without a pop of your favourite fragrance. Screen Shot 2014-12-31 at 11.47.45 am

Time to werq it

Wearing formals to work can be dull from time to time, but not if you’re doing it right. Play around with high-low shirts, neutral pants and accessories to finish a look, and you’ll never find yourself complaining about work wardrobe issues a day in your life! Remember that the key to a look like this in basic coloured pants and pencil skirts in the beige, nude, khaki palette. Screen Shot 2014-12-31 at 11.49.16 am
