What Are Dupattas?
Dupattas which are also known as Chunari is a shawl-like scarf and is part of many essential women clothing like a Suit, Salwar kameez or Ghagra which are usually matched with the garment from the Indian subcontinent. The dupatta is most commonly used as part of the women's suits since ages and salwar kameez costume and worn over the kameez or the Ghagra, but is originally part of the Ghagra Choli outfit from the history. The dupatta has been a symbol of modesty as a part of the dress from the Indian subcontinent as its main purpose is elegance and modesty.

Silk is a natural protein fiber, some forms of which can be woven into textiles to make bridal wear and chunris. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in sericulture and is the costliest silk obtained in market and ultimately the Silk Dupattas made from this is expensive and heavy which gives it shimmering appearance of due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors to the dupatta.
Silk is absorbency makes the dupattas comfortable to wear in warm weather and while the active and low conductivity of silk dupattas keeps warm air close to the skin during cold weather. It is often used for clothing such as bridal heavy dupattas and Eastern folk costumes. For practical use, silk dupattas are excellent as clothing that protects from many mosquitoes and biting insects, unlike net dupattas.
